9/3/2023 0 Comments Renoise redux differenceLoad your break into a Renoise instrument.Load up FL and load up Renoise as a ReWire slave. Here's how to get multi-channel output per slice: This is because the sample output track routing is per-instrument (not per-sample/slice) and the mixer track outputs are what control routing audio to outside of the application. You do have to do it manually, though you can probably save time by saving Renoise/FL templates/presets along the way.Īs an overview, the way you'll need to do this is by routing each slice to an instrument effect chain, each effect chain to a mixer track, and each mixer track to an output bus. First off, there's no way to auto-map to different outputs (I'm not sure how it would determine how to auto-map if it could.). Redux is also less of an investment, and you can always pickup Renoise later if you decide you want the full workflow.Īlright, I got a chance to play with it. I don't own Redux yet, but if you care more about the sampler, effects, and effect commands, and not so much about Renoise's approach to higher-level DAW features such as the pattern matrix and tools (added functionality through community-written extensions), then I feel safe saying that Redux will get you what you want of the Renoise experience without the hassle of learning the rest. I have used the FL/Renoise combo to make tracks before, and it's smooth. If you're still planning to stick with FL Studio as your primary, Renoise works great with ReWire. Real-time timestretching is typically only relevant for live performance though, and you can do timestretching "offline" with another program or with tools. You also might miss the ability to do real-time timestretching, which Renoise can't do. I regularly forgo VSTs altogether and use nothing but Renoise. The built-in effects are fantastic, and there are a lot of pseudo-modular style things you can do with nothing but basic waveforms and effects. It is incredible and I highly recommend it. I have worked with Ableton and FL Studio in the past, and Renoise has been my main DAW for over a decade now.
